The 2008 NIR Executive Leadership Conference will be held May 14-16 in Phoenix, AZ. The National Instiitute of Restoration provides leadership training for the "business" end of the restoration industry. Technical training is critical, but of what use is it if it cannot be applied in a profitable manner? A one day workshop begins the conference, and is followed by two days of speakers and roundtable discussions.
This years conference begins with a workshop on Project Management & Production. The workshop will discuss items such as:
- Building & managing a sub-contractor database
- Writing & managing budgets at a profit
- Job scheduling
- Managing customer satisfaction versus customer expectations
- Material purchases and "buying the job out"
- Crew management
- Project time emanagement
- Communication with the customer and the sales person
- "Giving away work" and the devastating effects it can have on profit.
The two day conference that follows has a blended format of guest speakers and guided round table discussions. Speaker topics include:
- Taking Back Your Business
- The Future of the Restoration Industry
- Power of Persuasion
- Picking Your Clients
- So You Landed a Large Loss. Now What?
The Round Table discussions allow the opportunity to discuss topics openly among 8-12 of your peers. Topics include:
- Manging & Understanding Overhead
- Strategic Marketing: 20/80 principle
- Business Diversification: New Business Lines
- How to Develop a Growth Plan
- The Sales/Estimating Process
- Large Commercial Losses
- Telling Your Story to Build Your Business
Imagine the organization you could have if you spent as much time learning how to run your business as you did how to dry buildings or remove smoke! Can you read and understand your financial statement? Do you have a succession plan to pass your business on or sell it profitably? Can you manage a large project and have it finish on time and at a predicted profit? Do you know how to reach adjusters, property managers, risk managers, and how to market to them once you do? These topics and many more are discussed at NIR Conferences and in the network relationships you can build once you are involved.
